Benefit Concert

The life & songs of Paul Robeson were presented at Théâtre Outremont on Tuesday, May 17th 2016 at 19h30 to the benefit of Parkinson en mouvement. For the occasion, Thomas Fox, accompanied by Andrew Cowan on the guitar & piano spoke of & sang tunes made popular by Robeson; and Raymond Cloutier narrated some of the memorable moments of Paul Robeson’s shows in Montreal, including one in a jam-packed Forum!

Over 200 people came to the concert or sent us donations.

Sincere thanks to all of you.

Parkinson en mouvement Members Singing For Sick Children

The Parkinson en mouvement choir “Les Voix du Parkinson” joined in raising funds for Ste-Justine’s, one of Montreal’s pediatric hospitals. The choir chose to dance on & sing Céline Dion’s « Because You Loved Me » to show that despite illnesses, it is possible to dream & have fun. The words to the song also express something we all felt : in our lives, there are people who believe in us & give us a helping hand. Thanks to them, we can dance, sing & share the love being shown to us. Our entry raised 2 490$ for the hospital.

A personal account of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)

Richard Goulet, one of our participants at Parkinson en mouvement, describes in great detail the screening and testing before surgery, the surgery itself and the recovery period afterward. An excellent article for those living with Parkinson’s that may be considering this treatment themselves. If you want a copy of his story, please contact us.
